The
2006 ASME Summer Annual Meeting is being held in San Francisco at the
Hilton San Francisco Hotel June 17-22, 2006.
The Summer Annual Meeting is the turning point of the Society's administrative
year. Incoming officers are inaugurated and retiring officers are acknowledged
for their past efforts.
Members of the Society convene throughout the week to nominate next
year's officers and to discuss the affairs of the Society. There are
no technical sessions.

A FREE workshop jointly organized by ASCE, ASME and IEEE
Tuesday, June 20, 8 a.m. till noon, at the San Francisco Hilton
Funded by the United Engineering Foundation
Join us on Tuesday, June 20, at 8 a.m., and discover how you can enhance
your efforts to bring the excitement of engineering education to your
local schools and pre-university educators. Come enjoy fun, classroom-tested
engineering activities from ASCE, ASME and IEEE. This workshop will
also feature hands-on, inquiry-based learning, incorporating national
mathematics, technology and science standards and will address issues
of gender and diversity in engineering education. You will have the
opportunity to learn about complimentary resources, gain insight into
outreach programs that will enable you organize public outreach events
and train other volunteer engineers. Resources will be provided, including
instructional booklets, lesson plans, videos, CDs and DVDs, a self-tutorial
PowerPoint training presentation, and much more. Participants will
also learn how to identify and work with educational partners including
schools, PBS stations, museums and youth groups.
