The 30th OMAE in Rotterdam: The Offshore Experience!

We are pleased to welcome you to the 30th International Conference on Ocean, Offshore and Arctic Engineering (OMAE 2011), from June 19th - 24th 2011 in Rotterdam.

Please note the special events, such as the Networking drinks on Monday, Rotterdam Boat tour on Tuesday and the Brazilian Farewell drinks on Thursday: a good reason to stay until the end!

Conference venue
The conference will be held in the World Trade Center (‘Beurs WTC’) in Rotterdam, the Netherlands (address: Beursplein 37). A map of Rotterdam (6Mb) (including Central Station and ‘Beurs WTC’) can be found on the Kiviniria website

Travelling
We would like to advise you to fly to Amsterdam ‘Schiphol’ Airport (not Rotterdam Airport). We do not recommend renting a car during the OMAE conference due to the high parking expenses in our major cities. At Schiphol Airport you can take a direct train to Rotterdam-Central Station, which is 1 hour from Schiphol Airport (every 15 minutes). Schiphol station is situated directly below the airport (below Schiphol Plaza); there are clear signs at the airport. You can buy (second or first class) tickets at the counters (recommended) or machines at Schiphol Plaza. Trains to Rotterdam typically leave from Platform 5 or 6.

WTC and most hotels are within walking distance from Rotterdam - Central Station (see the map of Rotterdam above), but you could take a taxi if preferred. For more information about public transport, please see traveling with the OV-Chipkaart and the map of metrolines.

If you'd like to tour through Holland or Europe after the conference, feel free to contact our information stand offered to you by 'Rotterdam Marketing' on Sunday afternoon and Monday morning at the WTC.

Onsite Registration
Please pick up your name badge and registration package at the OMAE 2011 registration desk at Beurs WTC (Mercurius Hall on Ground Floor). The registration desk will be open during the following times:

  • Sunday: 13:00 – 20:00
  • Monday: 07:00 – 16:00
  • Tuesday: 07:00 – 16:00
  • Wednesday: 08:00 – 16:00
  • Thursday: 08:00 – 16:00

Information for Presenters
The schedule with all papers is available via the program overview. You can also download (8 Mb) the full Onsite Program at the registration website. Daily updates of the program will be provided to prevent ‘no shows’, please pick these up at the registration desk every morning.

Each presenter has a total of 20 minutes (15 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for questions/comments) for his/her presentation. The length of presentations will strictly be monitored by the Session Chairs.

OMAE will provide a laptop loaded with Microsoft PowerPoint 2007, a data projector, and screen in each session room for presentations. Presenters are requested to bring their presentation on a USB Memory stick to their session room 30 minutes prior to the start of their session to load their presentation (presenters are requested not to use their own laptop for their presentation in order to avoid delays in changing laptops). Please bring a short CV for the chairmen.
