Program attendees are invited to an exclusive tour of TVA Bellefonte Nuclear Plant scheduled for June 24 (Wednesday) at 10:30am (Eastern). The tour is limited to 30 participants. Advance sign-up is required.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Tennessee Valley Authority's Bellefonte Nuclear Plant site is located near Scottsboro, AL, which is approximately 3 hours from the Conference Hotel. Transportation will be provided by ASME.

 

This exclusive tour will give participants the opportunity to see the inside of a partially completed nuclear plant and tour Unit 1, of which construction was halted in 1988. The tour will include: the containment/reactor building, where the nuclear reactor is housed and the structures in place to protect it the spent fuel pool, where used fuel would be cooled in large pools of water the turbine building, which houses the turbine, generator and condenser, and the diesel generator area, which contains the diesel generator and supporting equipment that provide back-up electrical power to the plant. The tour will wrap up with a Q&A session, along with lunch sponsored by TVA.
