| Dr.
Sophie Rocks, BSc, MSc, PhD., is a Toxicologist within the Institute
of Environment and Health at Cranfield University. She has degrees in
Biochemistry and Toxicology from the University of Surrey and a PhD from
Barts and The London, Queen Mary’s School of Medicine and Dentistry,
University of London.
Sophie has had a varied research career to date with interests in inflammation,
ischaemia-reperfusion injury, free radicals species and biomaterials (hydroxyapatite).
Her recent research has been in the field of materials within the internationally-renowned
Microsystems and Nanotechnology Centre at Cranfield University where she
was involved in the production and characterisation of nanoparticles and
functional ceramics. More recently, Sophie has managed a Defra research
project considering the risk assessment approaches for manufactured nanomaterials
and their suitability.
