COMMUNITIES IN ACTION
Our mission is to “excite, encourage,
and support ASME membership through communities.”
For ASME to be successful, our communities need to offer quality programs
and activities that interest members, including students and early career
engineers, and attract non-members. These programs should provide opportunities
to gain knowledge that are relevant to the job and give a competitive advantage.
You are here as a leader in the Society to help the Society meet challenges
– to improve communications within and between our communities and make
better use of knowledge, people, and financial resources. This Leadership
Training Conference (LTC) provides a unique opportunity for you and your fellow
leaders to seek ways to serve our members and the greater engineering community.
As leaders of our Society, your role is to help develop the most appropriate
strategies and implement them quickly and effectively. You and other members
of your unit need to decide what goals and approaches your unit should focus
on. Whether this involves new, innovative programs and services or improved
marketing of existing programs and services, you are not alone. You are part
of a bigger team. The people you meet at this LTC – whether from a section,
technical division, institute, center, staff or senior management –
are invaluable resources. Like you, they are interested in providing quality
products, services, technical knowledge and networking opportunities that
our members need and want. Your active participation – listening, learning
and sharing - is essential to the success of this LTC – your Learning
here plus Teaching and Challenging your
ASME unit to serve engineers is vitally important to the future of ASME.
