NSF/ASME Design Essay Competition
Students are invited to write essays on what they believe engineering design will be like in 2025. Winners receive support for their trip to DETC up to $1,000. Although the essay competition is open to both undergraduate students and graduate students in separate divisions, only graduate students submitted entries this year. Eight essays received awards, three of them were jointly written so we have 11 winners. When an essay has been written jointly, the authors share the prize. Their information is attached.

The students will present posters. Students will also receive certificates at the DED Honors and Awards Luncheon. Funding comes through Delcie Durham at NSF. The ASME provides certificates, recognition and poster space. This competition was established in 1998 at the Atlanta DETC.
