The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the United States Coast Guard will jointly sponsor the first Workshop on Marine Technology and Standards, which will be held June 3 and 4, 2008 at the Sheraton National Hotel in Arlington VA. This workshop will focus on providing a technical exchange on areas of technology that impact the marine industry with corresponding coverage in related codes, standards and government regulations. There will be sessions on industry trends and emerging technologies, codes and standards, and classification society and government regulatory concerns. Specific issues to be discussed in a panel session format include pressurized cargoes and fuels, pressure vessels, piping, and risk based approaches to engineering evaluation of marine systems. Stakeholders for this event include government agencies, classification societies, industry groups and standards development organizations.
The Workshop is being held concurrent with public technical meetings of the ASME Committee on Pressure Vessels for Human Occupancy, which will be held at the same location June 3-6, 2008.
