Associate
Professor of Mechanical Engineering, University of Kentucky
Johné Parker is an associate professor of mechanical engineering
at the University of Kentucky. She has industry experience as a production
engineer for Shell Oil Company and as a process engineer at Mobil Chemical
Company.
Parker received her BME, MSME and Ph.D. degrees from the George W. Woodruff
School of Mechanical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
She was also an ASME Congressional Fellow in the office of Sen. Byron
Dorgan (D-ND). She worked on several key issues for Sen. Dorgan, including
defense research and development appropriations and establishing a
Senate radio frequency identification caucus to educate policymakers
on the benefits and policy challenges of this emerging technology.
She is currently incorporating her policy interests and experience into
her research portfolio, which has a primary technical focus in the area
of systems and controls applied to intelligent manufacturing. Parker
is an adjunct member of ASME’s Board on Government Relations, a
member of the ASME National Science Foundation Task Force, an alternate
on the Nominating Committee and represents ASME as an ABET evaluator. |
