Designer, Henderson Engineers, Inc.,
Jen Jewers is a mechanical designer at Henderson Engineers,
Inc., where she works on a variety of refrigeration projects for Wal-Mart
Stores. She is responsible for maintaining all refrigeration updates
and changes for the Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market prototype and three
of the Wal-Mart Supercenter prototypes.
In her role as a refrigeration designer, Jewers also represents Henderson
Engineers on two Wal-Mart Refrigeration Collectives, a group of consultants
and Wal-Mart engineers, that provides proto design development, a collective
resource for new design development, technology identification and application
support, and a resource for standards review. Additionally, she coordinates
all refrigeration design and scheduling with refrigeration system manufacturers,
and is responsible for all non-prototype refrigeration design work at
Henderson Engineers.
Prior to joining Henderson Engineers, Inc., Jewers worked as a Refrigeration
E.I.T. for Carter & Burgess, Inc. in Fort Worth, Texas, and was responsible
for engineering analyses on large-scale industrial ammonia refrigeration
systems, including mass energy balances and ammonia inventories, and
writing standard operating procedures for refrigeration systems. She
was also responsible for the training of new refrigeration E.I.T.s, and
for the creation of refrigeration spiral freezer design guidelines for
a major poultry producer.
Jewers received her Bachelor of Science degree in engineering with a
mechanical emphasis with minors in Spanish and Mathematics. She received
a Master of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University
with an emphasis in thermodynamics and heat transfer.
Jewers is an active ASME volunteer, serving at many levels in the Society.
She currently serves as the chair of the Committee on Early Career Development,
second vice chair for the management division, member-at-large for the
Affinity Communities Board, alternate to the Nominating Committee, and
the secretary of the Kansas City Section.
