Canada's National Research Council (NRC) is a leader in the development
of an innovative, knowledge-based economy for Canada through science and
technology. Located in the heart of the Vancouver fuel cell technology
cluster, the NRC Institute for Fuel Cell Innovation (NRC-IFCI) supports
Canadian leadership in clean energy technology by addressing industry-defined
R&D and commercialization priorities. NRC-IFCI’s “living
laboratory” for clean energy solutions features state-of-the-art
research labs, an Advanced Testing and Validation Centre (ATVC), integrated
technology demonstrations, fuel cell electric vehicles and a hydrogen
fueling station.

MTU – Turbine Engine Overhaul facility – Friday, June 10 - 1:15- 5:00 PM
MTU Maintenance Canada is the North American member of the MTU Maintenance
network of companies, the largest provider of independent commercial engine
services worldwide.
The Vancouver facility holds all OEM licenses required to repair and
overhaul GE CF6-50 and CFMI CFM56-3 engines. Apart from accessory repairs
in its own shop, the company also offers LRU (Line Replaceable Units)
management services, which play an increasing role in MTU’s service
offerings.
MTU Maintenance Canada is a maintenance organization approved by the
FAA, Transport Canada and other aviation authorities. It is authorized
to inspect, repair, overhaul and test aircraft engines, modules and components.
Repair processes include high-speed grinding, welding and Non-Destructive-Testing.
The tour consists of engine build lines, static and dynamic balancing center, engine accessory component shop, and high speed grinding center and unique 7 axis Vertical Lathe. Length of tour is approximately 3 hours and 45 minutes including transportation to the Richmond Facility. A snack and refreshment will be provided.
