"Pipeline Engineering for the Gas Turbine Industry"
Offered by the International Petroleum Technology Institute (IPTI)
Saturday & Sunday, June 12 & 13, 2010
Scottish Exhibition & Conference Center
Glasgow, Scotland
Overview
This course will be an introduction to pipeline and gas turbine industries,
with discussions on how these two industries interface. Topics will focus
on the design, operation and maintenance aspects of the pipeline, gas
turbine, and compression system fields. Case studies will be used to demonstrate
real life situations as well as interactive audience participation in
open discussion on: What does the year 2015 look like for pipelines? Price
of natural gas? Impact of Shale gas? Carbon credits? Nox emissions regulatory
limits? Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for transportation?
After completing the course the participants should be able to:
- Understand onshore pipeline design
- Identify the differences between gas and liquid pipelines
- Rrelate to the operational and integrity issues with gas pipelines:
external corrosion; coatings
- Understand pipeline maintenance: cleaning; inspection
- Identify how and why pipelines are important to the gas turbine industry
Instructors
Tom Hausfeld, GE Energy; Andre Goncalves,
Penspen Limited; Aaron Hasnip, Penspen Integrity
Course Attendee Profile:
Attendees should have some background or appreciation for the engineering
profession, with an interest in pipelines, gas turbines, and/or compression
systems.
