Arrival by Air
Montréal is serviced by the Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (Montréal-Trudeau), just 25 minutes from downtown Montréal. The city is easily accessible from the airport by taxi, Aérobus or rental car.
Taxi
Taxicabs are available outside the arrivals terminal at the Montréal airport. The fare from the airport to downtown Montréal is approximately CAD$35.00.
Aérobus Shuttle
Shuttles bound for downtown Montréal depart the airport every 25 minutes between 7:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. Shuttle fare from the airport to the city center is about CAD$13.00; you may purchase a round-trip (return) ticket for CAD$22.75. The shuttle ride from the airport to the city center takes approximately 35-45 minutes.
Rental Car
Several car rental companies operate inside of the Montréal airport.
Underground City
Montreal's Underground City is the set of underground complexes in and around downtown. It is also known as the indoor city, as not all of it is underground. The underground city has 30 km of pedestrian walkways, indoor areas and tunnels linking 10 metro stations, 2 train stations, 2 bus stations, 62 buildings, 7 major hotels, 200 restaurants, 1,700 boutiques, 37 movie theatres and exhibition halls, 2 universities, and 10,000 indoor parking spaces. The underground city is accessible through 155 different entrances.
Climate
Montreal lies at the confluence of several climatic regions and thus the climate in the city varies greatly. In May, expect an average temperature of 55ºF (13ºC).
Currency
The official currency of Canada is the Canadian dollar (CAD$).
Language
French is the official language of Québec, but you'll find people who speak English as well, especially in Montréal. Montréal is the second largest French-speaking city in the world, after Paris and the most bilingual city in North America. As always, all Turbo Expo programs and functions will be conducted in English.
Tipping
Service is not included in restaurants, so it is customary to add a 15% tip to the total. Taxi drivers are also normally tipped 15%.
