SBC2011 final program now available online!

Since 1993, the Summer Bioengineering Conference has been a forum for informal interactions and exchange of ideas among new and experienced members of the bioengineering community. In a uniquely relaxed atmosphere, the conference provides an outstanding venue for researchers, educators and students, bioengineers, biologists and clinicians from industry, academia and clinical organizations - for state-of-the-art and in-depth discussions.

The 2011 SBC, set in the relaxing Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania at the AAA 5-diamond Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, promises to deliver! Close to the famous Fallingwater house by America's premier architect Frank Lloyd Wright, it is a pristine mountain location offering outdoor adventures — including white-water rafting, mountain biking, and rock-climbing to name just a few. An outstanding scientific program is being chartered — profound plenary lectures by world-class scientists Elazer Edelman and Roger Quinn, the most popular Student Paper Competition in the field of biomechanics, special technical sessions honoring the 70th birthday of Savio Woo, the first ever SBC student design competition in the field of Design and Rehabilitation, and technical sessions dedicated to cutting edge research performed in industry.

When submitting your abstract, you will be required to select 1) a Theme from the list below, and 2) a Subtheme associated with your chosen Theme. The Theme and Subtheme will be used by the organizing committee to assign reviewers and develop the program. A brief list of these themes are:

Introducing the ASME Electronic Copyright Process

ASME has implemented an electronic process for copyright submission. This process gives each author the ability to sign his or her copyright form electronically instead of filling out and sending in the paper form to ASME.

In order for your form to be processed correctly, a few procedures need to be followed:

  • At abstract submission, the corresponding author must enter all co-author information in the Tool with complete and verifiable information, including email address and telephone. Non-verifiable contact information may prevent you from completing the copyright form and your paper from being published.

  • Once an extended abstract paper is submitted, each author of the paper will receive an email message with a unique link that will take each individual author to a website to electronically sign the form.

  • Once an extended abstract paper has been submitted, the author will not be able to change the author lineup or paper title.

The entire process should take you 30 seconds or less to complete.

For more detailed information, please go to ASME Copyright Guidelines to familiarize yourself with this new process.

We welcome you to Nemacolin in June 2011.
