The ASME Ocean, Offshore and Arctic Engineering Division (OOAE) of the
International Petroleum Technology Institute (IPTI) is hosting a specialty
forum at the 2011 International Conference on Ocean, Offshore and Arctic
Engineering (OMAE) in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. The specialty forum
is designed for students who may not be familiar with the industry as
well as those who have already specialized in this area.
This is the fifth year of the Outreach for Engineers Forum. Highlights
of the Forum will include presentations of the various technologies required
(e.g. from geosciences to mechanical/structural engineering and project
management), types of job opportunities and possible career paths, as
well as site tours.
In addition, Outreach for Engineers Specialty Forum delegates will be
provided with the opportunity to participate at the 30th International
Conference on Ocean, Offshore and Arctic Engineering as full conference
delegates. This conference will showcase over 400 technical papers from
engineers and scientists from around the world, with 13 Symposia representing
the range of technologies.
Students will need to apply for scholarship funds and to attend the forum.
The application deadline is April 8, 2011.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Senior Undergraduate Students enrolled in Engineering or Science Curricula.

Graduate Students (both Masters and Doctoral levels) with specialization in fields such as ocean and/or offshore engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, petroleum engineering, and aerospace engineering.
WHEN AND WHERE IS IT?
The Outreach Specialty Forum will be held during the OMAE 2011 conference.
The conference takes place in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Delegates to
the forum are strongly encouraged to attend the full conference from Saturday, 18 June through Friday, 24 June. See conference website for detailed schedule of
events.
COST
If you are approved for scholarship there will be no conference registration
fee. This is covered by the standard Outreach scholarship. The scholarship
includes the specialty Outreach forum and the full OMAE 2011 conference
package. It does not include the conference banquet.
If you are a paid OMAE 2011 Conference attendee and wish to attend the
Outreach forum you may at no additional cost. However, you must be a qualified
student.
SCHOLARSHIPS
Through funding provided by the OOAE Division of ASME, the organizers
of the Outreach to Engineers Specialty Forum will be offering scholarships
to cover registration costs. The scholarships are open to students from
around the world.
