Outreach for Engineers Specialty Forum

Career opportunities in the Offshore Oil and Gas Engineering Profession.

The ASME Ocean, Offshore and Arctic Engineering Division (OOAE) of the International Petroleum Technology Institute (IPTI) is hosting a specialty forum at the 2010 International Conference on Ocean, Offshore and Arctic Engineering (OMAE) in Shanghai, China. The specialty forum is designed for students who may not be familiar with the industry as well as those who have already specialized in this area.


SCHOLARSHIPS WILL BE AVAILABLE TO COVER THE COST OF CONFERENCE & OUTREACH REGISTRATION. LIMITED TRAVEL SUBSIDIES MAY BE AVAILABLE. **

This is the fourth year of the Outreach for Engineers Forum. Highlights of the Forum will include presentations of the various technologies required (e.g. from geosciences to mechanical/structural engineering and project management), types of job opportunities and possible career paths, as well as site tours.


In addition, Outreach for Engineers Specialty Forum delegates will be provided with the opportunity to participate at the 29th International Conference on Ocean, Offshore and Arctic Engineering as full conference delegates. This conference will showcase over 400 technical papers from engineers and scientists from around the world, with 13 Symposia representing the range of technologies.


WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

  • Senior Undergraduate Students enrolled in Engineering or Science Curricula.

  • Graduate Students (both Masters and Doctoral levels) with specialization in fields such as ocean and/or offshore engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, petroleum engineering, and aerospace engineering.


WHEN AND WHERE IS IT?
The Outreach Specialty Forum will be held during the OMAE 2010 conference. The conference takes place in Shanghai, China. Delegates to the forum are strongly encouraged to attend the full conference from 6 June through 11 June. See website for detailed schedule of events.


COST
If you are approved for scholarship there will be no conference registration fee. This is covered by the standard Outreach scholarship. The scholarship includes the specialty Outreach forum and the full OMAE 2010 conference package. It does not include the conference banquet.

A limited number of travel subsidies are available to students outside of China who are approved for the Outreach scholarship.

If you are a paid OMAE 2010 Conference attendee and wish to attend the Outreach forum you may at no additional cost. However, you must be a qualified student.


SCHOLARSHIPS
Through funding provided by the OOAE Division of ASME, the organizers of the Outreach to Engineers Specialty Forum will be offering scholarships to cover registration costs. Scholarships are also available to help offset travel and accommodation costs. The scholarships are open to students from around the world.
