Next Generation Railroads, Next Generation Railroaders
Papers and presentations are solicited on all aspects of railroad civil, mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering, as well as rail safety, planning, design, financing, operations, and management. While papers on freight and passenger rail subjects are sought, the conference theme is Next Generation Railroads, Next Generation Railroaders: Innovations and People for the Future. Conference organizers encourage submissions on the following topics as well as other relevant topics.

Conference Banquet & Program Speaker Wick Moorman

Charles W. "Wick" Moorman is the Chairman, President, and CEO of Norfolk Southern Corporation. He began
his railroad career at Southern Railway as an 18-year-old co-op student at Georgia Tech. Moorman learned the
railroad business from the ground up, working in the track department for 12 years before earning an MBA
at Harvard and starting a 15-year ascent to the top of the company. Since joining Norfolk Southern in 1970,
Moorman has served in various senior positions in the corporation's transportation, personnel, labor relations,
information technology, and strategic planning areas. He has been Executive Chairman of Norfolk Southern
Railway Company and Norfolk Southern Corporation since 2006, and from 1999 through 2004, Moorman
was President of Thoroughbred Technology and Telecommunications Inc. Railway Age named Moorman
"Railroader of the Year" for 2011.
