Student Competition Rules

Student Support and Awarding

Only students-presenters from Track 16 “Student Paper Competition” with accepted papers are eligible for this support.

ASME, JSME, China NS and European Student-Track Leaders will select "qualified students" from their respective groups. Names and paper titles will be provided to Dr. Sama Bilbao Leon, Chair of Track 16 by May 1, 2012. Nuclear Engineering Division of the ASME will fund up to 15 "qualified students" from the ASME, JSME, CNS, and Europe (in total – 60 students) from the Student Paper Competition Track 16 (for details of this funding, please see below). The Power Division of ASME will fund up to 10 “qualified students”.

REGISTRATION
All students who have been accepted into Track 16 and have been notified accordingly must register for the conference by May 21, 2012. If you do not register by this date, your paper will be pulled from the conference proceedings and you will NOT be eligible for any reimbursement.

If you plan to attend any workshops, non-student tours etc... you must pay for those activities. Your registration is complimentary, but you will be charged for the above mentioned activities accordingly.

HOTEL
The funding will cover hotel sleeping rooms up to 6 days per person (hotel/sleeping rooms are based on double occupancy (two or more students to share a room), reimbursement will be paid based on a hotel receipt after the conference). Sleeping rooms' arrangement will be made by Erin Dolan (ASME) with input from the Student Track Leaders.

  • Students are responsible for making their own hotel reservations. If you are interested in sharing a room with another student, please coordinate the arrangements directly with the other interested student(s).
  • If technical tour(s) are provided, students must attend this tour (these tours). Failure to attend will result in unpaid hotel reimbursement for this day.

TRAVEL EXPENSES
Qualified students' (only related to students from Japan, China and other Asian countries) travel expenses will NOT be covered by the ASME. However, North American qualified students' travel expenses will be covered by ASME in the amount of up to $600 US based on a valid airfare, and European qualified students' travel expenses will be covered by ASME in the amount of up to $1000 US based on a valid airfare after the conference.
