ASME respectfully thanks everyone for your understanding during these difficult times for the Japanese people and for your support of our JSME colleagues.

To all of the participants of ICONE19
As it has been announced in the media, on March 11th, the northern part on the main island of Japan was hit by a massive earthquake with a magnitude of 9.0 and the ensuing Tsunami occurred by the earthquake devastated the area killing and injuring numerous of the people and wreaked havoc on its infrastructure. Furthermore facilities of TEPCO's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plants were heavily damaged and are currently in severe condition.

JSME has been preparing for ICONE19 these past 2 years, and the decision on whether this event should or shouldn't to be held, weighed heavily on the present social conditions. Bearing this in mind, JSME concluded that cooperation towards Japanese restoration should be the first priority and thus will suspend the event in Makuhari this May.

JSME would like to ask your deep understanding.

Thanks
