Please remind that Cholula and Puebla are at 2,200 m above sea level (7,200 feet) and even though average temperatures for the summer are about 28°C (82°F) the solar radiation is more intense as the atmospheric layer gets thinner. Bring your solar protection cream and use it as well as a cap or hat for any stroll you plan to take.
We recommend using the taxi services available from the front desk at your lodgment place, either Cain-Murray dorm inside UDLAP or from Hotel Posada Señorial. At UDLAP there is a taxis company (Taxi Fam) that offers a highly reliable service. They have radio connection so with a phone call you can ask for their service. The person at the front desk will make the call for you.
Taxis charge about 7 USD for a trip from UDLAP to places in downtown Puebla. The only language spoken in the streets is Spanish, so we do not suggest using the bus services in the city.

Please check out the many activities you could enjoy during your visit. The places that should not miss are:
Cholula
At any time get into the many churches you will find in your path. There are 260 in this locality and together have 365 domes.
Visit to the pyramid of Cholula. The pyramids of Cholula are two hundred meters away from the gates of the Universidad de las Américas. There you can find guides who will give you a very good description of the Nahuatl culture that constructed this pyramid. There are some sections of the pyramid that were recently discovered. At some time, this pyramid had a bigger base than the pyramids in Egypt. Each 52 years everything was demolish and a new construction erected over the remains of the previous cycle.
Visit downtown Cholula. Five hundred meters from the gates of Universidad de las Américas. Visit some of the churches in downtown Cholula to find fine examples of Neo-Classical (Parroquia de Cholula), "plateresco" (San Gabriel Convent), and baroque (Virgen de los Remedios, the church on top of what was the pyramid of Cholula) Spanish art. The "portal" in Cholula offers an important variation of restaurants and cafés.
One block away from the central square of Cholula you will find the market. Take a look at the variety of fruits, vegetables, and other groceries that you probably have not seen before.
Visit Santa María Tonantzintla. For this trip you will need a taxi to take you back and forth. This church comprises the basic clue to Mexican art and people. It was constructed following the Spanish baroque example but the construction techniques, the symbols, and colors are those used for the construction of the pyramids. You will find persons offering a good description of this active church at its entrance.
Puebla
Also in Puebla you will turn your sight and find churches take a look at as many as your interests go.
Downtown Puebla. Ask the taxi to take you to the "zócalo". You will recognize the central square with three sides made of "portales" or Sheltered streets. You could try excellent food in any of the restaurants serving in the "portales". Main dishes from Puebla are "mole poblano", a spicy sauce to accompany poultry, or "chalupas", tortillas with red or green sauce, onion and either cheese, meat or chicken. Hotel Royalty and Vittorio's are good options for tasting these and other dishes in these areas.
Puebla's Cathedral deserves a visit. It is a fine example of neo-classic architecture. The altar of the kings depicts some Spanish kings.
El Parián. Handcraft market selling examples of popular art at reasonable prices. Don't forget to bargain; it is a common practice at this place. Check ceramics of Talavera.
Hotel Camino Real, two blocks from the central square, is set in the building of a XVII century convent. Enjoy a good drink in the central "patio"
There are several museums in downtown Puebla. For your consideration,
- Museo Amparo has a good collection of pre-hispanic pieces of ceremony, art, and everyday life. Three blocks from Puebla's central square.
- Museo de arte virreynal hosts a good collection of art and everyday items used during the colonial times. Two blocks from the central square.
- Museo Bello. Two blocks from the central square; a good collection of art from the entire world.
