Focus of the Panel Discussions -- ICE Spring 2006 Conference
Discussions focused on the following points throughout the session:
- Railroad industry and impact of diesel exhaust emission regulations
- Diesel locomotive and engine manufacturers have growing global reach:
- US locomotive and engine manufacturer sales into Europe
- European engine manufacturer sales into the USA
- Recently significant US locomotive sales orders for China
- Diesel locomotive exhaust emission regulations are fully established in the USA
- UIC limit value recommendations for exhaust emissions
- “Effectively” regulations
- Soon be superseded by formal EC regulations
- UIC limits currently “the standard” for most new diesel locomotive orders
- Extends to many countries outside of the EU
