About
California's second largest city and the United States' seventh largest, San Diego is home to the 2007 ASME/JSME Fluids Engineering Conference. San Diego is renowned for its idyllic climate, where the average temperature in July/August is approximately 80º F. With 70 miles of pristine beaches and a dazzling array of world-class family attractions including the world famous San Diego Zoo, Wild Animal Park, Sea World and Legoland just to name a few, attendees may want to consider extending their time and incorporating a family vacation into the mix. SeaWorld (5 miles from the hotel): There's no place in the world like SeaWorld. Touch and feed dolphins, count the teeth on a shark, come face-to-face with a polar bear. Brave the waves on the Shipwreck Rapids adventure ride. Venture into the tail-chasing, ruckus-raising world of your pet in the new show Pets Rule! Watch the park transform each summer night with Mystique de la Mer. And just try to stay dry when world-famous Shamu comes a-splashing! SeaWorld San Diego - it doesn't get any closer than this.

San Diego Zoo (3 miles from the hotel): Visit the world famous San Diego Zoo and meet some of the most exotic creatures on earth like our giant pandas. Whether they are climbing trees or munching on bamboo, you'll get a firsthand look at these rare and wonderful bears. While you're here, journey into the depths of Ituri Forest, a central African jungle habitat teeming with okapis, hippos, forest buffalos, colorful birds and acrobatic monkeys. Swing by the Children's Zoo for some face-to-face encounters with everything from pythons to porcupines. San Diego Wild Animal Park (35 miles from the hotel): There's a magical place where you can stretch out a hand to feed a gentle giraffe, rub noses with an endangered rhino or look deep into the eyes of a furry-feathered ostrich. It's an adventure waiting to be discovered at the San Diego Wild Animal Park, one of the few places on earth where rare and exotic species roam free. While you're here, stroll through the Heart of Africa, a 32 acres safari adventure into the dense forests and grassy savannas of Africa. Board the Wgasa Bush Line Railway for a journey past herds of elephants, rhinos, zebra and other endangered species. Legoland California (35 miles from the hotel): Legoland is a 128-acre family theme park dedicated to families with children between the ages of 2 and 12. Just like with LEGO toys, kids are the ones who make things happen at the Park. They drive, pedal, squirt, climb, jump, stomp, slide, steer, pull, click, push, gallop, laugh, build and program their way through more than 50 rides and attractions. Seaport Village (3 miles from the hotel): Take advantage of the wonderful weather in San Diego. Walk along the bay and visit the quaint shops and fine restaurants. Don't forget to bring home a souvenir.

Gas Lamp District (3 miles from the hotel): Known as the historic heart of San Diego. Sidewalk cafes, open-air restaurants, jazz clubs and dancing; this is where the San Diego nightlife begins.
