Speaker: Dr. Hunter Fanney, Chief, Building Environment Division, National Institute of Standards and Technology
Presentation Title: A Sunny Career in Energy Research
Dr. Hunter Fanney, recipient of ASME's 2006 John I. Yellott Award, will give an acceptance speech describing his 30 year career in energy research. His personal research activities have included solar thermal systems, residential water heaters, advanced insulation systems, fuel cells and photovoltaics. The presentation will conclude with Dr. Fanney describing building related energy research taking place at the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
Dr. Fanney was awarded his PhD in Mechanical Engineering by Virginia Tech. He started his career as a research and development engineer at E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company. In 1977 he became member of the Solar Group at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. At NIST he has served as project leader, group leader, and most recently was appointed Chief of the Building Environment Division at NIST. He is an ASME Fellow and past chairman of ASME's Solar Energy Division
