Disney Behind The Scenes at MGM Studios - SOLD OUT
Date: Tuesday, November 17, 2009
Time: 6:45 AM - 10:00 AM
Cost: $65

Ever wonder how Disney's rides and spectacular shows get designed and developed? This behind-the-scenes tour is not available to the general public and will give you a glimpse into the engineering perspective behind the magic of Disney.

Participants will be picked up by bus at the Convention Circle/Dolphin Hotel and proceed directly to one of the four major theme parks at Walt Disney World Resort - Disney's MGM Studios. There, you will go behind-the-scenes of two rides - Toy Story Mania and Star Tours, plus one extravaganza show, Fantasmic. You'll meet with key Disney personnel who have been involved in creating, engineering and maintaining these rides. While their focus will be on mechanical systems, each of these attractions integrates numerous systems and subsystems. You will have the opportunity to ask questions throughout the technical tour. At the conclusion of each presentation, you may even have the opportunity to "take a spin".

Please note the following:

  • No one under 18 years of age is permitted to participate in the tour.
  • Each participant must carry government-issued photo identification (driver's license, passport, etc.)
  • Theme park admission is not included in the tour. If any participant wishes to stay in the theme park after this tour, admission must be purchased.
  • Comfortable shoes are recommended. Attire should be suitable for current weather conditions.
  • The technical tour will be a fast-paced experience and includes 3 separate locations within the backstage area of the Studio. We will be covering quite a distance in a short period of time. Although much of the tour will take place inside the facilities, several elements will be experienced outdoors.
  • If you have any concerns please contact Erin Dolan at dolane@asme.org
  • The taking of photographs or video will not be allowed on this tour.

If you notice that the tour is sold out and you would like to be placed on a waiting list; please send a separate email to Erin Dolan (dolane@asme.org). Spots will be filled on first come first serve basis. In some cases, space may become available at the last minute. If you would like to be contacted while onsite in Orlando, please provide a cell phone number.

All Tours will depart from the Europe 2 Foyer located on the lobby level of the Dolphin Hotel.
