Dr. K. (Subbu) Subramanian, Director - Core Technology (SPT), High Performance Materials Sector, Saint- Gobain Co., Higgins Grinding Technology Center, Worcester, MA

Dr. K. (Subbu) Subramanian is the Director, Core Technology - Surface Preparation Technologies (SPT), at the High Performance Materials (HPM) Sector, Saint- Gobain Co. He has world wide responsibility to foster this Core Technology through a network of Technology Centers: HGTC (USA), EGTC (Europe), CGTC (China). These technology centers promote innovation through internal R&D and through technology based alliances with worldwide customers, machine tool builders, other suppliers and research resources. Dr. Subramanian has developed unique concepts to combine technology and its management for market development, manufacturing research and in fostering inter-industry collaboration, with an eye on global competitiveness. Recently he has published a book titled, “The System Approach – A strategy to survive and succeed in the Global Economy” (Hanser Gardner Publishers). Dr. Subramanian obtained his B.S. Degree from Osmania University, India and Doctor of Science Degree from MIT, USA. He has worked at Ford Motor Company and International Harvester Company, prior to joining Norton Company in 1983 and became part of Saint-Gobain Co. since 1990. Dr. Subramanian is an elected Fellow of two professional societies: the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
