Presentation Title: New Devices and Technology for Ablation of Atrial Fibrillation
Dr. Feld has been the primary author on numerous publications in the field of cardiac electrophysiology, with a particular emphasis on development of new antiarrhythmic drugs and methods of catheter ablation to cure cardiac arrhythmias. He has pioneered several new treatments for cardiac arrhythmias, including catheter ablation of atrial flutter and AV node modification for atrial fibrillation. His current research interests include optimizing techniques for catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation, and development of new energy sources for catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation, including cryoablation and microwave ablation.
Clinical Interests and Responsibilities:
Dr. Feld is currently Professor of Medicine at University of California, San Diego, and Director of the Cardiac Electrophysiology Program. His clinical responsibilities include performing up to 8 ablation procedures a week, as well as pacemaker and defibrillator implantation procedures. He also sees new and followup patients in his outpatient clinic one day a week. He currently performs the largest number of ablations for atrial fibrillation in southern California.
