Joon You, Ph.D.

Dr. Joon You is currently the West Coast Director at ISS, Inc, where he oversees its operations in California and manages new product and business development for biomedical devices markets. ISS, Inc. is a leading provider of highly sensitive fluorescence instrumentation for research, clinical and industrial applications.


Dr. You was previously involved in facilitating technology innovation transfer between Universities and Industry. He served as the Director of Research Development for the LifeChips program at UC Irvine. He was also a UC Discovery Fellow at University of California.


Dr. You received his dual B.S. in Chemistry and Physics and trained in genomics and chemical physics at University of Maryland at College Park. He received M.S. and Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of California Irvine for his research work at the Beckman Laser Institute. His research background spans from structural biology of RNA to molecular modeling of silicon, to biomedical applications of optical technologies. His latest R&D activity has been focused on developing robust optical instrument for monitoring tissue oxygenation in brain and muscles during surgical procedures and in the events of trauma.
